Greenville, S.C.-based Prisma Health has broken ground on a $180 million medical park in Fountain Inn, S.C., a project designed to expand specialty care access across the fast-growing southern Greenville County region, CBS-affiliate 7 News reported June 30.
The 50-acre Fountain Inn Medical Park will include a four-story, 130,000-square-foot medical office building with more than 200 exam rooms and a 27,000-square-foot outpatient surgery center focused on orthopedic and other same-day procedures.Prisma Health said the campus will house more than a dozen specialties under one roof, including radiation and medical oncology, cardiology-vascular care, neurology, urology and colorectal care — services not previously available locally. The system expects to treat its first patients in December 2027.
“Today represents far more than the start of construction — it represents our continued commitment to expanding access to high-quality, compassionate care across South Carolina,” said Mark O’Halla, president and CEO of Prisma Health. “This new medical park is a direct response to that growth. It will expand access to specialty care, reduce travel times and provide patients with a more convenient, connected experience.”
The project pairs with growth planned at Prisma Health’s Hillcrest Hospital campus in Simpsonville, S.C., where additional primary care providers will backfill space left by specialty practices relocating to Fountain Inn, said Justin Benfield, CEO of Prisma Health Laurens County Hospital and Prisma Health Hillcrest Hospital. Prisma Health’s existing Fountain Inn primary care practice will also expand to add pediatric specialties and adult endocrinology.
The medical park adds to a broader capital push at Prisma Health, a 19-hospital nonprofit system that serves more than 1.6 million patients annually across South Carolina and Tennessee.
