New ASC Development

Centura Health opened an ASC at its St. Anthony Hospital campus in Lakewood, Colo.

Mesa, Ariz.-based Surgery Center Services of America has 12 new ASCs that have opened in the last six months or will open in the next six months, CEO Philip Blair told Becker's via email. 

A topping-off ceremony was held on Feb. 2 for a new Enfield, Conn.-based ASC, the S. Prestley and Helen Blake Ambulatory Care Center, according to a Feb. 2 report from MassLive.

Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth has broken ground on a medical office building with an ASC on its Daytona Beach (Fla.) campus, flaglerlive.com reported Feb. 1.

Iowa City, Iowa-based Steindler Orthopedic Clinic's upcoming ASC in North Liberty, Iowa will cost about $10 million extra, and construction is expected to take a year longer than originally planned, The Gazette reported Feb. 2. 

Here are five new ASCs opened or announced in January:

New details have emerged regarding an ASC under construction in Amherst, N.Y., through a joint partnership with UBMD Physicians' Group and Kaleida Health, both based in Buffalo, N.Y.,  NBC affiliate WGRZ reported Jan. 31.

Chapel Hill-based University of North Carolina Health plans to add eight to 10 medical office buildings on its Eastowne campus, which opened in March 2021, according to a Jan. 30 report from chapelboro.com. 

The Mackinac Straits Health System in St. Ignace, Mich., plans to add a 20,000-square-foot medical office building to its facilities, according to a Jan. 27 report from the Petoskey News-Review. 

Becker's has reported on three ASC and medical office building projects in 2023 totaling $75 million.
