New ASC Development

Surprise, Ariz.-based Regency Specialties has opened a multispecialty ASC.  

University of Virginia Health in Charlottesville finalized an agreement to acquire an ASC, according to an April 16 release. 

Pittsburgh-based UPMC has sold a surgery center building on the grounds of the former UPMC Memorial Hospital in Spring Garden Township, Pa., for $2.4 million, Penn Live reported April 18. 

Durango, Colo.-based Animas Surgical Hospital plans to open a two-operating room ASC.

North Carolina has had at least four ASCs announced or opened in the past 60 days, and two North Carolina ASC leaders spoke with Becker's ASC Review on the reasons behind the growth.

Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System, SensusOne and Brighton, Mich.-based Advanced Orthopedic Specialists have opened an $8 million ASC, the Grass Lake (Mich.) Outpatient Surgery Center, The Exponent reported. 

Becker's ASC Review has reported on seven new ASC projects that are expected to cost at least $25 million so far this year.

Kaiser Permanente broke ground on the addition of an 89,000-square-foot ASC and infusion services to its Murrieta (Calif.) Medical Offices.

Lakewood, Wash.-based Puget Sound Surgical Center finished its renovation and expansion, according to an April 13 release. 

Gainesville-based University of Florida Health broke ground on a 23-hour unit expansion at its surgery center, the UF Health Surgical Center.
