New ASC Development

Dakota Dunes, S.D.-based Center for Neurosciences, Orthopaedics & Spine opened a new clinic in South Sioux City, Neb., CBS affiliate Siouxland News reported March 22.

Baptist Memorial Health Care, the Jackson Clinic and Rendina Healthcare Real Estate broke ground on an outpatient campus and medical office building in Jackson, Tenn., Rendina said March 23. 

The Health Center at Pennsburg (Pa.), operated by Allentown, Pa.-based Lehigh Valley Health Network, is now open, the Sanatoga Post reported March 23.

National Spine & Pain Centers is opening an ASC in Oxon Hill, Md., on March 23, the group said. 

Borland Groover Clinic is building a $14.6 million gastroenterology ASC and medical office building in Orange Park, Fla., Jacksonville Daily Record reported March 18. 

ASCs are typically the perfect example of high-value healthcare because centers provide quality care at a lower cost than hospitals. But ASCs aren't thriving, or even welcome, in some places across the U.S.

Lakeland (Fla.) Regional Health is planning a medical office building with an ASC and freestanding emergency room, Growth Spotter reported March 17. 

Lewes, Delaware-based Beebe Healthcare is opening a surgical hospital in May, Bay to Bay News reported March 17.

The Green Mountain Care Board, a Vermont regulatory body, has approved the state's third ASC while restricting the specialties it can offer, Seven Days reported March 17.

Providence, R.I.-based Brown Surgical Associates is launching a comprehensive hernia surgery center.
