New ASC Development

In 2013, Bon Secours signed a performance agreement promising the construction of a 25,000-square-foot medical office building in the East End of Richmond, Va. On Jan. 10, 10 years later, the office building finally opened its doors to the public. 

The state approved a new open-heart surgical program at the Chesapeake (Va.) Regional Medical Center after a five year push, The Virginian-Pilot reported Jan. 9. 

Here are four new ASC and medical office building projects so far this year: 

Silver Cross Hospital and Premier Suburban Medical Group have broken ground on a $25 million, 42,000-square-foot medical office building in Orland Park, Ill., according to a Jan. 6 report from Rejournals.

The Apple Valley (Minn.) Planning Commission has recommended the approval of a planned 56,595-square-foot medical office building on the city's largest piece of undeveloped land, according to a Dec. 30 report from the Sun This Week. 

The $50 million, 160,000-square-foot Hudson (Wis.) Medical Center has opened its doors to patients, the Hudson Star-Observer reported Jan. 3. 

Dallas-based Baylor Scott and White Health plans to construct a four-story medical office building next to its hospital in College Station, Texas, according to a Jan. 3 report from WTAW. 

A general surgeon and radiologist are now able to build a private ASC in Orangeburg, S.C., The Times and Democrat reported Dec. 29.

Madison, Wis.-based UW Health is moving forward with its new ASC, local NBC affiliate WMTV reported Dec. 23.
