New York state investing $5.5M in new ASC

NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst (N.Y.) began construction on a $5.5 million, 5,000-square-foot ASC.

Three details:

1. The New York City Council is funding the project, which entails a new operating room, four procedure rooms, and 18 preoperative and postoperative beds. Construction is slated for completion in spring 2021.

2. Urology, gastroenterology, general surgery, pulmonology, ophthalmology and gynecology specialists will practice at the new center.

3. The ASC will enable NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst to increase its same-day surgery volume by about 45 percent, resulting in an estimated $6.8 million in revenue.
