New York City Mount Sinai Health System has opened Peakpoint Central Nassau Surgery Center in Carle Place, N.Y., a joint venture with Ridgefield, Conn.-based Merritt Healthcare and a group of its surgeons.
According to a Sept. 1 news release, the 20,400-square-foot ASC houses two operating rooms, two procedure rooms and 17 recovery bays, including three private rooms and three rooms for 23-hour stays.
The center offers gastroenterology, gynecology, ophthalmology, orthopedic and spine surgery, otolaryngology, pain management, plastic surgery, podiatry and urology services.
Michael Gorin, MD, a Mount Sinai urologist serving as the center’s medical director, said the facility lets Long Island patients receive ambulatory surgical care “in a state-of-the-art facility with Mount Sinai surgeons united under one roof.”
Ken Long, Mount Sinai’s senior vice president of network operations, said the center brings “Manhattan-level clinical services to Long Island communities.” Brent Stackhouse, managing director of Mount Sinai Ventures, said the facility’s design prioritizes efficiency for both affiliated and non-affiliated physicians.
Peakpoint Central Nassau joins Mount Sinai’s existing Long Island care hubs in Wantagh and Greenlawn, centralizing outpatient surgical services as the health system expands its regional footprint.
