Joint-venture ASC opens location near UK HealthCare — 5 insights

Lexington (Ky.) Surgery Center’s new facility opened near UK HealthCare at Turfland, according to John-Mark Hack, vice president for business development at commercial construction firm Bristol Group.

Five insights:

1. Lexington Surgery Center is a joint venture between UK HealthCare and Deerfield, Ill.-based Surgical Care Affiliates. 

2. UK HealthCare became LSC’s majority partner in fall 2018, buying a 51 percent stake in the center. SCA, the previous majority owner, now has a 49 percent stake and will continue managing LSC.

3. UK HealthCare physicians began practicing at LSC upon closure of the transaction. Construction on LSC’s new location began in December 2018.

4. The joint venture ASC is intended to help UK HealthCare expand its ambulatory and outpatient services.

5. Bristol Group designed, manufactured and constructed LSC’s new location.
