New Castle, Ind.-based Henry Community Health broke ground Sept. 25 on an 18,300-square-foot ASC at its John D. Pidgeon Knightstown (Ind.) campus. The project costs about $17.5 million and is set to open in early 2028, The Courier Times reported Sept. 30.
The ASC is phase two of a multi-year buildout on the campus, which the health system bought in 2020. Phase one, a 26,000-square-foot facility offering primary care, orthopedics and urology, opened in September 2025.
The center will have three operating rooms, one procedure room, eight pre- and post-operative rooms and four post-anesthesia rooms. It will open with orthopedic, podiatric and pain management procedures, and HCH plans to add urology, endoscopy and gynecology later. The facility will employ up to 40 people.
COO Cori Morris said moving appropriate procedures to a dedicated outpatient setting will make care smoother and more efficient for patients while freeing up hospital capacity for higher acuity patients.
