Georgia board delays surgery center decision after community objections — 5 insights

The Pooler (Ga.) Planning and Zoning Board tabled discussion around a proposed oral surgery center in Pooler, Savannah Now reports.

What you should know:

1. The 3,900-square-foot, two-story surgery center development would include a 49-space parking lot. The second level of the center would offer office space.

2. The surgery center is the second development proposed for that site. A previous developer pulled their plans from consideration before the board met.

3. Pooler Police Chief Ashley Brown raised several traffic-related objections. Ms. Brown said the surgery center development would cause traffic problems with commercial traffic emptying onto residential streets.

4. Several community members objected to the development. They echoed traffic concerns and questioned whether the developers paid a fee to submit the application to the city.

5. The planning board will discuss the surgery center at a future meeting.
