Despite receiving CON, New York health system has yet to apply for building permit — 5 insights

Although New York health officials awarded Kingston, N.Y.-based HealthAlliance a CON, the health system has yet to apply for a Hudson Valley building permit, the Daily Freeman reports.

Here’s what you should know:

1. City officials have not been contacted by HealthAlliance officials to start the approval process.

2. New York health officials approved a $92 million expansion of HealthAlliance’s existing freestanding emergency room.

3. HealthAlliance CEO David Scarpino said to the paper in April, construction would start in six months.

4. A spokesperson for the hospital’s parent company said the project is “on or close to schedule,” and is readying documents to submit for approval.

5. A same-day surgery center and advanced endoscopy center are among the hospital’s many planned facilities.
