Construction of a new orthopedics-focused ASC began this week in Grand Traverse County, Mich., according to TV station UpNorthLive.

1. Construction on The Great Lakes Orthopaedic Surgery Center is expected to wrap up by November.

2. Physicians at the center will perform outpatient joint replacements, including knee and shoulder procedures.

3. Vincent Prusick, MD, a physician at the Great Lakes Orthopaedic Center, said the shift to outpatient joint replacement has resulted in orthopedics evolving into the outpatient population.
