Plans for the ASC have been in development since 2001, but were delayed when a deal with Bingham Memorial fell through.

According to the Challis Messenger, the medical center’s staff pitched in part of their paychecks to fund the ASC. Lost Rivers Medical Center filed for bankruptcy in 2010, and was unable to proceed with plans for the ASC until 2013.
