$15M Virginia ASC gains state's approval

The Virginia Department of Health has approved surgery provider MedRVA Healthcare's request to build a $15.4 million surgery center in Chester, Va., Richmond BizSense reported July 3.

For ASCs to be built in Virgina, providers must first gain approval through the state health department's certificate of public need regulatory program, according to the report.

MedRVA gained permission to relocate an existing general-purpose operating room at another facility and create a new specialty eye-focused operating room for the new center.

The surgery center is expected to open in early July 2024.
