8 Surgery Centers With New Electronic Medical Record Systems

Here are eight ambulatory surgery centers with new electronic medical record systems.

Advanced Endoscopy and Surgical Center in Eatontown, N.J., selected the ProVasion MD software for gastroenterology procedure documentation and coding. The AAAHC-accredited surgery center includes three operating rooms in a new facility that was expanded in early 2011. The ASC includes several partners performing gastroenterology, pain management and podiatry procedures.

Black Canyon Surgical Center in Montrose, Colo., chose Cyramed EHR as its electronic health record solution. The ASC will go paperless with the EHR, which is designed to mimic real-world processes and workflows for single and multispecialty centers. The ASC includes three operating rooms and is the only multispecialty center in the surrounding communities. Black Canyon Surgical Center is a joint venture with Montrose Memorial Hospital and includes orthopedics, ENT, ophthalmology, urology, podiatry and pain management.

Lincoln (Neb.) Orthopaedic Center, which includes a surgery center, chose SRS EHR technology and services for its 14 providers. The practice was founded in 1948 and includes general orthopedics spine and sports medicine. In addition to the surgery center, the practice has an MRI and X-ray and a sports medicine outreach program. The surgeons provide medical care to several local athletic teams.

Oak and Main Surgical Center, in Vineland, N.J., an affiliate of South Jersey Healthcare, chose SourceMedical's Vision OnDemand cloud-based management and EHR system. The system will connect the ASC to the New Jersey Health Information Exchange. This multispecialty ASC was founded more than 13 years ago and is accredited by AAAHC.

Ohio Orthopedic Center of Excellence, which includes 59 providers, an ambulatory surgery center, rehabilitation and imaging services, selected eClinicalWorks for its EHR solution last year. The practice has several locations across Ohio and was founded in 1965. The 100,000-plus square-foot surgery inciter includes four operating rooms and a procedure room. Physicians perform sports medicine, general orthopedics, extremities and spine cases at the ASC. The surgery center is accredited by The Joint Commission.

Piedmont Eye Center in Lynchburg, Va., selected SRS EHR for its seven high-volume physicians in the group. The ophthalmology center has been serving the community for more than 40 years. Physicians perform several types of cases in the 12,500-square-foot facility, including iLASIK, minor lid surgery, advanced cataract surgery and surgical treatment for eye disorders.

Roosevelt Surgery Center in New York recently announced it would implement an electronic medical record system with the help of PriorityOne Group. The ASC is a joint venture between local physicians, Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America and Roosevelt Hospital, a member of Continuum Health Partners network. Roosevelt Surgery Center is the first ASCOA center to implement EMR, and will continue to work with PriorityOne group on monitoring and support for the system, which has interoperability with the Continuum Health Partners network systems.

Southpoint Surgery Center in Jacksonville, Fla., recently selected ProVation Medical Software for procedure documentation and electronic health records. The ASC includes four operating room, one treatment room and 11 recovery areas. There is also a dedicated laser room and two exam rooms, and dedicated sterile processing areas. The multispecialty surgery center includes general surgery, ophthalmology, gynecology, otolaryngology, pain management and plastic surgery. It's accredited by The Joint Commission.
