Buffalo Surgery Center (Amherst, N.Y.). The surgery center performs 12,000 cases per year. It is focused solely on the surgical treatment of musculoskeletal conditions. It includes three operating rooms, fully equipped for arthroscopic surgery.

Physicians from Amherst, N.Y.-based Excelsior Orthopaedics provide care at the center and practice includes 18 physicians, 14 physician assistants and 18 physical and occupational therapists. The surgery center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and is certified by Medicare.

Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County (Newport Beach, Calif.) and Main Street Specialty Surgery Center (Orange, Calif.).  Both the surgery centers are subsidiaries of Hoag Orthopedic Institute and collectively perform approximately 6,440 orthopedic procedures a year. Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County performs 4,870 annual orthopedic procedures and Main Street Specialty Surgery Center's volume is 40 percent orthopedics-driven.

Orthopedic Surgery Center of Orange County is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and offers a wide-array of orthopedic procedures, including hand surgeries, spine surgeries, total hip replacements and treatments for sports injuries and fractures. According to the 2014 Outcomes Report from Hoag Orthopedic Institute, the surgery centers patient safety metrics exceeded national data. The post surgical wound infection rate was reported as 0.2 percent whereas the national average is 1.43 percent.

The Main Street Specialty Surgery Center includes five operating rooms and two minor procedure rooms and is also accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care. It offers numerous orthopedic procedures such as ACL reconstruction, rotator cuff repairs, carpal tunnel release and unicompartmental arthroplasty. According to Hoag's 2014 Outcomes Report, the surgery center's postoperative infection rate was 0.09 percent as compared to the national rate of 1.43 percent.

"People need access to information such as quality and cost data in order to make better decisions," said Gabby White in a Becker's ASC Review article. "This information will ultimately improve care and steer patients and payers to the higher quality, higher value centers. The best ASCs will improve their quality metrics to be at or better than the national averages. These ASCs will typically be the highest value when cost is factored in as well. High volume providers often have better outcomes and in the long-term care cycle, a better outcome costs less than a poor one."

Vail Valley Surgery Center (Edwards, Colo.). The surgery center performs 6,400 cases per year and offers a care in a wide-array of orthopedic conditions, such as sports injuries, degenerative diseases and musculoskeletal trauma. It also provides surgical services in podiatry, pain management, general surgery, ENT and gastroenterology.

The surgery center was established in 2002 and is a joint venture between the Vail (Colo.) Valley Medical Center and approximately 25 physician investors. It is fully licensed by the state of Colorado and Medicare.
