Running a successful ambulatory surgery center has only become more difficult. Administrators manage a full staff, understand a center's costs down to the case, work with new and existing physicians and more; all while keeping up with the demands of a rapidly shifting healthcare environment. Here 132 ASC administrators to know this year.

Margaret Adams, CASC, is the administrator Riddle Surgical Center in Media, Pa., and a group vice president of Nueterra. She previously served as a nurse and has more than 30 years of experience in the healthcare industry. She oversees the 17,500 square-foot multispecialty center that features four operating rooms and two procedure rooms.

Nancy Akers, RN, BSN, CLNC, is a director of operations for PINNACLE III and the administrator of Foothills Surgery Center in Boulder, Colorado. She joined PINNACLE III in 2015.  Ms. Akers previously served as administrator for Surgical Center at Premier and Centrum Surgical Center.  She possesses nearly 20 years of healthcare experience and holds a BSN from Radford University.

Traci Albers is the executive director of High Pointe Surgery Center in Lake Elmo, Minn., and North Memorial Ambulatory Surgery Center at Maple Grove (Minn.). Both centers are affiliated with Surgical Management Professionals. Ms. Albers has more than 15 years of experience in ASC and healthcare management.

Amy Allard is administrative director of Ramapo Valley Surgical Center in Ramsey, N.J. The center opened in 2005 and offers ENT, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pain management and podiatry procedures. Ms. Allard has been with the surgery center for 10 years.

Vickie Arjoyan, BSN, CASC, is the facility administrator and director of nursing at Symbion-affiliated Specialty Surgical Center of Beverly Hills (Calif.) for more than 15 years. She received her BSN and CASC in 2013 at the same time she celebrated her 15th anniversary with the center.

Jesseye Arrambide is executive director at Oregon Outpatient Surgery Center in Portland. Before assuming her role at OOSC, she was director of surgical and obstetric services at Pacific Communities Hospital in Newport, Ore., for 11 years. She is also president of the Oregon ASC Association.

Beverly Baker is the administrator of Timberlake Surgery Center in Chesterfield, Mo. Ms. Baker has been the center's administrator for more than six years. The center offers orthopedics, podiatry and pain management services.

Judy Barsamian-Armstrong, RN, serves as administrator and CEO of San Luis Obispo Surgery Center, a Surgical Care Affiliates-managed center. She previously served as director of nurses with SCA. She has also served as an operating room charge nurse at Fresno (Calif.) Community Hospital. The surgery center offers services in a number of specialties such as ophthalmology, orthopedic, gynecology, ENT and oral surgery.

Jill Barth, BSN, RN, a director of operations for PINNACLE III, is the administrator of two ASCs in Wisconsin: Pine Ridge Surgery Center in Wausau and Northwoods Surgery Center in Woodruff.  She has excelled at leading facilities through AAAHC certification and is actively involved in the continued improvement of clinical operations. Prior to joining PINNACLE III, Ms. Barth was the ambulatory surgery administrative director for Marshfield Clinic.  She has more than 22 years of progressive healthcare experience and holds a BSN from the University of Wisconsin.  

Jacquelin Belcher is administrator of Inland Surgery Center in Redlands, Calif., a Surgical Care Affiliates facility. She has been with Surgical Care Affiliates for eight years. In 2013, she received SCA's "Top Administrator for Service Excellence" recognition. Inland is a multispecialty center completing over 6,400 cases per year. Ms. Belcher currently serves as the Growth Champion for her region and is instrumental in the on-boarding of new administrators for SCA.

Julie Bell is administrator at Hawthorn Surgery Center in Libertyville, Ill., a multispecialty Surgical Care Affiliates center. She has been administrator at Hawthorne for more than 15 years.

Angela Blankinship, BSN, CASC, administrator of Houston-based Northstar Healthcare Surgery Center, a part of Nobilis Health. She has been in the ASC Industry for around 20 years. She has previously served as administrator of Longmont (Colo.) Surgery Center and director of surgery at San Luis Valley Regional Medical Center in Alamosa, Colo. She earned her BSN degree in nursing administration at The University of Texas at Arlington.

Regina Boore has more than 27 years of experience in the ASC industry both as a nurse and as a manger. She is currently administrator at Newport Bay Surgery Center in Newport Beach, Calif. In addition to administrative duties, she is principal and CEO of Progressive Surgical Solutions.

Nancy Boyd is administrator at Crane Creek Surgery Center in Melbourne, Fla., affiliated with Blue Chip Surgical Partners. The ASC includes eight physicians who have a special interest in spine surgery, orthopedic surgery and general surgery.

Dustin L. Briggs, CSFA, is the director of operations for Advanced Surgical Institute. The institute includes a surgery center at two locations — Huntington Beach, Calif., and Rancho Cucamonga, Calif. Both centers are multispecialty focusing on spine, bariatrics, urology, plastics and podiatry.Mr. Briggs has more than 15 years of surgical experience in first assisting and management. He joined ASI in 2014 and oversees both surgery center locations.

Jamie Burger is business manager at Surgery Center of Lancaster (Pa.), a position she's held for more than eight years. The surgery center includes 21 physician partners who practice otolaryngology, ophthalmology and orthopedics.

Jennifer Butterfield, MBA RN CNOR CASC, is the administrator of the multispecialty Lakes Surgery Center in West Bloomfield, Mich. She has worked in the ASC industry for 10 years, serving as OR manager and chief nursing officer prior to becoming an administrator. During her tenure, she has been credited with significantly increasing EBITDA, physician distributions and successful physician recruitment. She serves on several committees including the ASCA Education Committee, MASA Purchasing Alliance Committee and most recently has been appointed by ASCA to serve on the 2018 Health Guidelines Revision Committee Outpatient Document Group for the Facility Guidelines Institute.  

Susan Carocari is the administrator of Merritt Healthcare-affiliated River Valley ASC in Norwich, Conn. She has more than 25 years of experience in the nursing profession. Ms. Carocari has been with River Valley ASC since 2013.

Mauro Cecchetti serves as vice president of operations at Constitution Surgery Centers in Greenwich, Conn. He currently manages two surgery center joint ventures with Greenwich Hospital — The Helmsley Ambulatory Surgery Center and the Orthopedic & Neurosurgery Center of Greenwich. Previously, he served as director of clinical operations at Mid Manhattan Surgi-Center. He is also a surveyor for the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care.

Susan Cheek, CPA, CHCC, CASC, is administrator at Dallas Endoscopy Center, a position she has held for more than eight years. She is responsible for the five-suite center's accounts receivable management, budget forecasting, human resources, insurance company contracts and vendor management.

Stacey Clarke is administrative director of the Strictly Pediatrics Surgery Center in Austin, Texas. The surgery center, managed by ASD Management, is a joint venture between 25 surgeons and Seton Health System.

Joseph Colbert is administrator at North Coast Surgery Center in Oceanside, Calif., a joint venture between physician partners, Tri-City Medical Center and Surgical Care Affiliates. He has been administrator there for more than 13 years, negotiating the center's transition from freestanding to joint venture in 2010.

P. Evalyn Cole, MSHA, CASC, is the administrator of the Spine Surgery Center in Eugene, Ore., and CEO of KeiperSpine. Ms. Cole has assisted Oregon physician groups with several ASC projects. While earning her master's degree, she wrote her thesis on developing an ASC.

Martha R. Colen, RN, MBA, CASC, is the administrator of Virginia Beach Ambulatory Surgery Center. The ASC was founded in 1989 and includes four operating rooms. The AAAHC-accredited facility has orthopedics, otolaryngology, urology, general surgery and gynecology along with other specialties.

Jennifer Collins is administrator at Parkway Surgery Center in Hagerstown, Md., affiliated with Blue Chip Surgical Partners. She has held the position for more than six years. Physicians at the center are focused on spine surgery and pain management.

Elizabeth Convery, RN, is a board -certified holistic nurse, certified yoga instructor and administrator of Teaneck (N.J.) Surgical Center. She was appointed in January 2014 and previously served as the center's director of nursing. Her background is in OR and labor and delivery nursing.

Dan Corbett, MBA, CASC, is the administrator of Pacific Hills Surgery Center in Laguna Hills, Calif., a role he has held since April. Previously, he was administrator at Reagan Street Surgery Center in Los Alamitos, Calif. He has also served as administrator with Orangewood Surgical Center in Orange, Calif.

Dean Daringer is the administrator of Surgery Center of Chester County, Pa. He has more than 25 years of experience in healthcare administration, specializing in joint venture ASC start-ups, as well as problematic centers. He previously worked for Quorum and CHI, as well as management groups such as ACCA and Relative Health. Since coming to the center, he has increased the bottom line more than 10,000 percent the first year and has saved the company over $250,000 by re-negotiating contracts. He is currently working on a deal to double the physician partners for the center.

Beth Davis is administrator of Physicians' Surgical Care Center in Winter Park, Florida, a Surgical Care Affiliates facility. The ASC opened in 1993 and is building a new facility, which is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2015.  Beth is currently working to develop a Total Joint Center of Excellence in 2016 in conjunction with Jewett Orthopaedic Clinic.

Gregory P. DeConciliis, CASC, is the administrator of Boston Out-Patient Surgical Suites in Waltham, Mass. Mr. DeConciliis has been a physician assistant in orthopedics since 1999. He left New England Baptist Hospital in 2004 to start up Boston Out-Patient Surgical Suites.

Alfonso Del Grandado is the administrator and compliance officer at Ashton Center for Day Surgery in Hoffman Estates, Ill. He also oversees all three surgery centers under Oak Brook (Ill.) Medical Management's brand — Oak Brook (Ill.) Surgical Center, Aiden Center for Day Surgery in Aston, Ill., and Ashton Center for Day Surgery. He has almost 20 years of management experience in healthcare.

Joseph DeMarco is administrator of the Philadelphia-based Thomas Jefferson University Hospital's surgery center, Jefferson Surgical Center at the Navy Yard. The center is also affiliated with The Rothman Institute and Nueterra Healthcare.

Henry DeVries is the administrator of Hinsdale (Ill.) Surgical Center, an affiliate of United Surgical Partners International. Last year, Mr. DeVries successfully recruited an orthopedic group. He has been with Hinsdale Surgical Center for three years. Previously, he was an independent consultant with McKinley Resources.

Ed Downs, RN, BS, HCA, MBA, is the administrator of Conroe (Texas) Surgery Center. The 24,000-square-foot surgery center provides a wide array of services, including non-emergent retinal services, lap band procedures as well as bone anchored hearing aid implantation.

Barbara P. Draves, CASC, is an owner and the administrator at The Surgery Center in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and serves on the board of directors for CASC. The center was founded in 1984 and includes 23-hour stay capabilities.

Jean Dunaway, RN, CASC, was named administrator of Effingham (Ill.) Ambulatory Surgery Center in 2009, before which she served as an operating room nurse at the surgery center for eight years. She has been an RN since 1987. She oversees freestanding multispecialty facility, which includes four operating rooms and performs around 550 cases per month.

Vicki Edelman, RN, is vice president of operations for Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America. She most recently served as administrator at Blue Bell (Pa.) Surgery Center, a position she held for more than six years. She has been a nurse for more than 30 years and previously held leadership roles at a community hospital.

Scott Edwards is administrator at North MS Ambulatory Surgery Center in Tupelo, M.S., Center for Digestive Health and North MS Pain Management. He has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare field. He serves on the Mississippi ASC Association board.

Joseph Engel, MPS, is the administrator of Gastroenterology Associates of Fairfield (Conn.) County and The Endoscopy Center of Fairfield. She is a member of the Medical Group Management Association, Connecticut Association Ambulatory Surgery Centers and American Gastroenterological Association. He joined Gastroenterology Associates of Fairfield in 2003 and he coordinated the design and development of The Endoscopy Center of Fairfield. He has previously served as vice president of operations in a practice management company and administrator of for several large practices.

Angela Erosenko has been administrator and CEO at CMMP Surgical Center in Jefferson, Mo., for more than 15 years. Before then, she was business office manager at the center for three years.

Jim Evely has been at BRASS Surgery Center in Baton Rouge, La., since June of 2013. The center is affiliated with Surgical Care Affiliates. Before his time there he spent nearly a decade with DaVita, a dialysis treatment and support system company.  

Brien Fausone is administrator of Michigan Endoscopy Center and Michigan Endoscopy Center/Providence Park in Farmington Hills and Novi, respectively. He has been the administrator of MEC since 2003, prior to which he was a hospital executive for 30 years. Both the surgery centers are distinctly GI-focused and offer a number of services, including colonoscopy, flexible sigmoidoscopy, upper endoscopy and capsule endoscopy. They are accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and perform more than 20,000 procedures annually.

Maria Freed, MHSA, is the administrator at Coral Gables (Fla.) Surgery Center in Miami, a Meridian Surgical Partners facility. She has more than 25 years of experience in the healthcare industry and she previously served as an assistant administrator at Coral Gables Hospital and Doctors Hospital.  She was also a former director of international services for HealthSouth Corporation in Birmingham, Ala., and after that for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. She earned a master's degree in health services administration and lectures frequently on the subject of patient advocacy.

Michael Galvin is the administrator of The Christ Hospital Spine Surgery Center in Cincinnati. The center is managed by United Surgical Partners International and two years ago Mr. Galvin received the 2012 CEO Award. Mr. Galvin has been the center's administrator for more than five years.

Christine Gambrel, RN, BSN, is administrator of the Surgery Center of Rockville (Md.). The surgery center is affiliated with Surgical Care Affiliates and has eight physician-owners. The center offers ENT, general surgery and pain management procedures.

Melodie Garrobo is administrator at Golden Ridge Surgery Center in Golden, Colo. She has managed surgery centers for more than 15 years. She was instrumental in developing the Colorado ASC Association and served on the task force the Colorado Division of Labor and Employment.

Jackie Ginter, RN, BSN, MSN, is the administrator of GNS Surgery Center in Athens, Ga. The center focuses on outpatient spine and neurosurgical care. GNS Surgery Center is affiliated with Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners.

Diana Grasso, RN, BSN, CNOR, is the clinical director and director of nursing at Gloucester County Surgery Center in Mullica Hill, N.J. The surgery center, managed by ASD Management, is a joint venture between physician partners and Underwood Memorial Hospital. Prior to joining the surgery center team, Ms. Grasso worked at Underwood Memorial Hospital for 32 years.

Julie Greene is the CEO of Muskegon (Mich.) Surgery Center, a joint venture between Mercy Health Partners and physician-owners. Ms. Greene has been CEO of the center for more than six years. She has also served as board director of the Michigan Ambulatory Surgery Association.

Debra Hagendorn RN, CASC, is the administrator of South Shore Ambulatory Surgery Center in Lynbrook, N.Y. She has served as a registered nurse for 31 years, with 11 years of hospital management experience in perioperative services. She has served as administrator of the South Shore ASC since 2003. The center performs around 5,500 cases a year. She also has certification in ambulatory surgery management.

Michaela Halcomb, RN, MSN, MPS, CIC, is a director of operations for PINNACLE III and the administrator of Peak One Surgery Center in Frisco, Colorado.  She joined PINNACLE III in 2015 and has more than 35 years of experience in health care. Prior to joining PINNACLE III, Ms. Halcomb held a variety of leadership positions with St. Anthony Summit Medical Center.  She holds a BSN from Indiana University and a MPS from Denver University.

Debbie Hall, RN, MBA, is the administrator of High Plains Surgery Center in Cheyenne, Wyo. The center is managed by Regent Surgical Health. Ms. Hall has served as the center's administrator since 2002.

Tracey Harbour, BSN, RN, is administrator at Surgery Center of Pinehurst (N.C.), a Nueterra Healthcare facility. She has been an administrator since 2007. The surgery center is a joint venture with First Health of the Carolinas. It has six operating rooms and two pain management rooms.

Laura Harding is the administrative director of Physicians Surgery Center at Alvarado in San Diego. Ms. Harding oversees all business aspects of the surgery center including coding, billing, accounts receivable and payable, human resources and corporate compliance. She earned her degree from Akron (Ohio) University.

Judy Harless, MBA, CASC, is administrator at SMI Surgery Center in San Diego. She has more than 20 years of experience in the healthcare industry and advocated on behalf of ASCs locally and nationally. She has served on the Ambulatory Surgery Center Association board and was newly elected as a board member with the California Ambulatory Surgery Association.

Bill Hazen, RN, has been administrator and CEO at The Surgery Center at Pelham in Greer, S.C., since 2004, when he helped open the center. Previously, he served as director of special projects at Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Medical Center.

Heather Hilgendorf-Cooley, MBA, is administrator of Spring Park Surgery Center in Davenport, Iowa. She has served in this role since May 2013. The surgery center was established in 1986. It includes urologists, ophthalmologists, general surgeons, anesthesiologists and advanced nurse practitioners. The center is accredited by the Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care and certified by CMS.

Tracy Hoeft-Hoffman, RN, MSN, MBA, CASC, is administrator at Fremont (Neb.) Health Surgery Center, a position she has held for more than three years. She previously served as administrator of Hastings Surgical Center. She has more than 20 years of experience in healthcare and has been involved in the Nebraska Association of Independent Ambulatory Centers.

Erika Horstmann, RN, MSN, CASC, is a director of operations for PINNACLE III where she has managed several ASC facilities in Wisconsin and Illinois.  Her management skills foster efficient, engaged staff and positive surgery center environments.  Ms. Horstmann holds an MSN from Loyola University.  

Ann Hurd is also director of nursing and administrator at the Advanced Surgery Institute in Santa Rosa, Calif., which is a partnership between Regent Surgical Health and Santa Rosa (Calif.) Memorial Hospital. She practices as a staff nurse at the hospital, which is part of the St. Joseph Health System in Eureka, Calif.

James Kamps, RN, MBA, CNOR, has been administrator for nearly three years at Surgery Center at Tanasbourne in Hillsboro, Ore., which is a joint venture between Providence Health Systems in Portland, Ore. Previously, he served as administrator at an independent multispecialty surgery center, Wilshire Surgery Center, near Portland.

Kathy Kelly is the administrator of Nueterra-affiliated Viewmont Surgery Center in Hickory, N.C. She is responsible for managing and organizing all aspects of the facility's operations. Before joining VSC in 2013, Kelly spent more than 13 years at Catawba Valley Medical Center as the scheduling coordinator, operating room RN and surgical tech, and she has prior ASC administrative experience at the Surgical Institute of Michigan. Ms. Kelly holds a BS in Biology from Campbell University, BSN from Lenoir Rhyne University, and MSN in Nursing Education from Walden University.

Wendy Kelley, CASC, has been administrator at Cool Springs Surgery Center in Nashville, Tenn., for nearly ten years. The multispecialty center was founded in 2000 as a freestanding, five-OR facility.

Janie Kinsey, RN, CASC, is administrator at St. Luke's Surgicenter – Lee's Summit (Mo.). She previously served as nurse manager at the Surgery Center of Leawood and has experience in contract negotiations, physician recruitment, healthcare marketing and business operations.

Rikki Knight, RN, BHS, MHA, is executive director and administrator at Lakeview Surgery Center in West Des Moines, Iowa. She began as director of clinical services at the center and has been executive director and administrator of the center for more than two years. She has more than 25 years of experience in the ASC industry. She is also president for the board of the Iowa ASC Association.

Debbie Krawczyk has been the administrator at Summit Surgery Center in Beverly Hills, Calif. for five years. She was previously office manager at Beverly Hills (Calif.) Surgery Center.

Diane Lampron, BSN, CASC, a director of operations for PINNACLE III since 2008, is the administrator of The Surgery Center at Lutheran and assists with operational oversight at Peak One Surgery Center. Both ASCs are located in Colorado. She has developed new programs at the facilities she has served in and is actively involved in the continued improvement of clinical operations.  Prior to joining PINNACLE III, Ms. Lampron was the manager of the surgery service line for Centura Health’s Porter Hospital. She has more than 25 years of progressive health care experience and holds a BSN from Wayne State University.

Carla Lauenstein is the administrator of Southwest Lincoln (Neb.) Surgery Center, affiliated with Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners. The surgery center offers neurosurgery, spine surgery, orthopedics, ophthalmology, podiatry, plastics and pain management.

Liliana Lehmann, RN, MBA, has been administrator at Hallandale Outpatient Surgical Center in Hallandale Beach, Fla., for 12 years. In addition, she is founder and president of Axis Management & Billing Services and administrator at the Surgery Center of Weston (Fla.).

Holly LeRoux, MS, RN, is a director of operations for PINNACLE III and the administrator of Boulder (Colo.) Community Musculoskeletal Surgery Center. She has created a culture dedicated to safety and engagement and has renewed the Center's focus on efficiency.  Prior to joining PINNACLE III, Ms. LeRoux held a variety of leadership and management positions at Kaiser Permanente including director of clinical services and surgical operations for their Colorado ASCs. She has managed up to 140 employees in both clinical and non-clinical operations.   

Maddie Linder, RN, CASC, is administrator of Bethesda Outpatient Surgery Center, a multispecialty surgery center located in Boynton Beach, FL. The center is affiliated with Amsurg. Ms. Linder has been at the center for 15 years and has been its administrator for 12 years.

Helen Lowenwirth, MBA, CASC, has been administrator at East Side Endoscopy in New York for more than three years. She was previously practice manager for New York Gastroenterology Associates and administrator for Park Avenue Radiologists.

Sarah Malaniak, CASC, is administrator at Ambulatory Center for Endoscopy in North Bergen, N.J., a Physicians Endoscopy-affiliated center. Previously, she served as administrator at Teaneck (N.J.) Surgical Center for more than five years.

Lori Martin, RN, has been administrator at Summit Surgery Center in Reno, Nev., for six years. Previously, she was director of nursing at the Surgery Center of Reno. Additionally, Ms. Martin is executive director of clinical operations at Saint Mary's Medical Group in Reno.

Stephanie Martin, BSN, RN, CNOR, CASC, is the administrator of Flagler Surgery Center (formerly St. Augustine (Fla.) Surgery Center,) a multispecialty ASC affiliated with Flagler Hospital. She has overseen the expansion of services at the center including gynecology and general surgery. Most recently, she oversaw the addition of a total joint surgery program.

Jebby Mathew, MBA, MHA, is a director of operations for PINNACLE III and the administrator of The Orthopaedic and Spine Center of Southern Colorado in Colorado Springs. A results-driven business operations strategist, Mr. Mathew enhances operational efficiencies, develops collaborative solutions and directs major initiatives to support critical clinical business processes.  Mr. Mathew is a member of American Council of Healthcare Executives and Management Group Medical Association.  Prior to joining PINNACLE III, he was the administrator of Kelsey-Seybold Clinic in Houston, Texas.  Mr. Mathews received his MBA/MHA from the University of Houston Clear Lake and his BA in Psychology from Emory University.  

Christina McDonald, MHA, is facility administrator of Tampa (Fla.) Outpatient Surgical Facility. The surgery center encompasses 17,500 square feet and includes five operating rooms, six procedure rooms, eight preoperative rooms, eight recovery rooms and a waiting room. It is accredited by The Joint Commission and offers surgical services in a number of specialties such as general surgery, orthopedics, ENT and gynecology.

Lianne McDowell, CASC, is administrator of South Portland Surgical Center in Tualatin, Ore. The surgery center is Medicare certified and AAAHC accredited. It includes more than 15 providers offering services in orthopedics, anesthesiology and ENT.

Stewart McFadden, MHA, MBA, FACMPE, is the Executive Director at Four Corners Ambulatory Surgery Center in Farmington, N.M. Previously, he held several practice administrator positions.

Dave Moody is the administrator of Knightsbridge Surgery Center in Columbus, Ohio, which is a joint venture between physician partners, Regent Surgical Health and OhioHealth in Columbus. He has been the administrator there for approximately 12 years, negotiating Knightsbridge's conversion to a joint venture in 2007.

Wanda Moratelli, CASC, is administrator of HCA North & West Florida's Plaza Surgery Center in Jacksonville. She has more than 15 years as a healthcare executive and helped the center achieve 100 percent success rate with AAAHC and CMS accreditation.

Josh Naylor is the administrator of Oklahoma Pain and Wellness and Tulsa (Okla.) Ambulatory Procedure Center. Mr. Naylor has previous experience serving as the manager of operations at BrightStar Care. He earned his master's degree in healthcare administration from Oklahoma State University in Stillwater.

Penny Nicarry is the administrator of Endoscopy Center at Robinwood in Hagerstown, Md., which is owned by Partners in Endoscopy and Physicians Endoscopy. She has been administrator since 2002 and helped negotiate the current ownership structure, which has been in place since June 2012.

Penny Nichols has been administrator at Greater New Orleans Surgery Center for more than 12 years. Previously, she served as the business office supervisor for the East Bank Internal Medicine Group in Metarie, La.

Kecia Norling, CNOR, CASC, has been at Northwest Ambulatory Surgery Center in Portland since its construction in 2004 and has served as administrator since 2006. The center is affiliated with United Surgical Partners International.

Joseph G. Ollayos is administrator at Tri-Cities Surgery Center in Geneva, Ill., a position he's held since 2006. He has worked in healthcare for more than 10 years and achieved CASC in 2005. He was elected Ambulatory Surgery Center Association of Illinois president in 2012 and 2013.

Michael Pankey, RN, is administrator at Ambulatory Surgery Center of Spartanburg (S.C). He previously served as administrator and clinical resources manager at other centers and spent 10 years in the Army Reserves. He has been president of the South Carolina ASC Association.

Kerri Parnell, CASC, is administrator at the Outpatient Surgery Center of Jonesboro (Ark.). She has been administrator there for four years. Previously, she served as financial manager for the center for eight years, beginning in 2003.

Larry Parrish is the administrator of Illinois Sports Medicine & Orthopedic Surgery Center, a physician-owned, multi-specialty ASC specializing in orthopedic and spine surgery, podiatry and pain management. ISMOSC performs a wide variety of orthopedic ambulatory surgical procedures, including arthroscopies, ACL reconstructions, arthroplasties, carpal tunnel releases and rotator cuff repairs. Mr. Parrish has been ISMOSC’s administrator for approximately nine years.

Jeff Peacock has been administrator at Rochester (N.Y.) Ambulatory Surgery Center for three years. The center is a joint venture from the 2011 partnership between Lattimore Community Surgery Center and Rochester General Health System. Mr. Peacock saw the center through the change, which occurred when RACS opened its doors in late 2013.

Daron Pealock, RN, BSN, is administrator and director of nursing for Cedar Orthopaedic Surgery Center in Cedar City, Utah. He assumed his role as administrator in late 2012. He continues to practice as an OR nurse, in addition to his administrative roles. Cedar Orthopaedic Surgery Center is AAAHC accredited and offers orthopedic surgery, spine surgery and pain management procedures.

Linda Phillips, RN, has been administrator at Southgate (Mich.) Surgery Center for 19 years. She oversaw the center's expansion from a single-OR, ophthalmic clinic to a four-OR, multispecialty clinic.

Heather Prince is the administrator of West Park Surgery Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo. The surgery center is a joint venture between physician-owners and Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners. The center offers spine, neurosurgery and pain management procedures.

Michelle Punshon, RN, MBA, is the ASC manager for Coastal Orthopedics in Bradenton, Fla. Ms. Punshon is also a licensed healthcare risk manager. She has more than 30 years of experience as an RN. She earned her MBA from the University of Florida in Gainesville.

Raghu Reddy is the administrator of SurgCenter of Western Maryland. He has been with the surgery center for three years. The surgery center, partnered with SurgCenter Development, offers ENT, gastroenterology, general surgery, orthopedics, podiatry and pain management services. The ASC was established in 2011.

Karen Reiter, RN, CNOR, RNFA,CASC, is the COO of DISC Sports & Spine Center, which includes two outpatient surgery centers — Diagnostic & Interventional Surgery Center in Marina del Rey, Calif.; and DISC Surgery Center at Newport Beach (Calif.). The centers offer a wide-array of surgical services for musculoskeletal conditions. She was integral in the inception and accreditation process of the DISC surgery centers and she now directly oversees their operation along with three affiliated offices. Previously, Ms. Reiter served as vice president of sales and marketing for RSB Spine. She began her career as an ICU/CCU RN more than 30 years ago.

Anne Remm is the administrator of Miracle Hill Surgery Center in Omaha. She has more than 28 years of experience in nursing and more than 20 years of experience in surgical management. The surgery center is affiliated with Meridian Surgical Partners.

Kathryn Loretta Rice, RNFA, BSN, CNOR, MBA, is the administrator of Gwinnett Surgery Center and Gwinnet Surgical Associates in Lawrenceville, Ga., positions she has held for more than four years. Ms. Rice  has years of experience in clinical practices as a nurse, as well. She earned her MBA/MHA in healthcare administration and management at Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga.

Gary Richberg, RN, BSN, CASC, is administrator at Pacific Rim Outpatient Surgery Center in Bellingham, Wash., a position he's held for more than nine years. He earned his CASC credential in 2003 and previously served as administrator of the Institute for Orthopaedic Surgery in Las Vegas.

Darin Roberts, MBA, CASC, is the administrator of Doctors' Park Surgery, a multispecialty ASC, in Cape Girardeau, Mo. He has more than 20 years of healthcare leadership experience between surgery centers and physician practices. Mr. Roberts has been able to increase the surgery center's profits by cutting costs and recruiting new physicians over the last several years. He has made several important changes in his nearly 10 years with the center.

Tami Robinson, RN, BSN, MSN, CNOR, is administrator and director of nursing at Unity Surgical Center in Lafayette, Ind. The ASC was licensed by the state in 2001 and is a collaboration between Unity Healthcare and Franciscan St. Elizabeth Health.

Mary Rogers is the administrator of Premier Surgery Center of Sarasota (Fla.), an Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America center. The surgery center offers ENT, gastroenterology, general surgery, oculoplastics, ophthalmology, orthopedics, plastic surgery and podiatry services. The center performed its first case in 2008.

Mary Ryan, MBA, CASC, is administrator at Tri-State Surgery Center in Dubuque, Iowa. She is a past AORN chapter president and founding member of the Iowa ASC Association. According to her staff, she strives for continuous improvement in clinical and financial operations.

Brian Rye, BS, ATC/L, CASC, has been CEO of Melbourne (Fla.) Surgery Center since June of 2008. The center is partially owned by Surgical Care Affiliates.

Phillip Santillanes, FACHE, CASC, is the administrator of Medical Center Ophthalmology Associates. He was previously administrator of Specialty Surgery Center in San Antonio, for more than two years. He has more than 17 years of experience in healthcare delivery systems in both hospital and ambulatory settings. He is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.

Tona Savoie, RN, is the administrative director of the Bayou Region Surgical Center in Thibodaux, La. Ms. Savoie has been with the center since it opened in 2006. The center is managed by ASD Management.

Catherine Sayers, BSN, MSHA, a director of operations for PINNACLE III, has developed or managed 13 single and multispecialty ASCs throughout the country.  She currently serves as the administrator for Skyline Endoscopy Center, a single-specialty GI endoscopy center located in Loveland, Colorado.  Prior to working for PINNACLE III, Ms. Sayers was director of surgical services at the Orthopaedic Center of the Rockies in Fort Collins, Colorado where she managed the ASC and a 10-bed recovery center.

Aaron Shechter oversees the Hackensack (N.J.) Endoscopy Center and the Endoscopy Center of Bergen County in Paramus, N.J. He recently managed the partnership of both centers with United Surgical Partners International and Hackensack (N.J.) University Medical Center. In 2013, Aaron won the CEO Award, which is an annual honor presented to a single USPI administrator.

Robert Schaal, PT, is the executive director of the Missouri Orthopaedic Institute in Columbia, Mo. It is central Missouri's largest freestanding orthopedic center. Mr. Schaal, with a background in physical therapy, has introduced outpatient physical therapy to the center's offerings.

Lisa Schriver, RN, CNOR, is the administrator at Turks Head Surgery Center in Chester, Pa. The multispecialty surgery center is affiliated with Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners.

Vicki V. Schultz, RN, CASC, is president of Texas Health Women's Specialty Surgery Center in Dallas. She managed the development, partnership and building of the facility. She has spent more than 20 years in the ambulatory surgery center business and has been a board member and treasurer for the Texas Ambulatory Surgery Center Society.

Michael Sengmanivong, BA, is the administrator of Doctors Outpatient Center for Surgery in Los Angeles. He has led the surgery center since 2010. He completed his bachelor's degree in marketing at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Chandler Shirer is administrator at Franciscan Surgery Center in Indianapolis, a joint venture with Franciscan Alliance. Mr. Shirer has guided the center through a 33 percent volume increase in two years and adding orthopedics and neuro/spine specialties. He also worked to expand the ophthalmology service line and achieve accreditation.

Jim Sigler, CASC, has been administrator at Casper (Wyo.) Surgical Center for nearly 12 years. He also has been instrumental in helping his center transition to providing 23-hour stays.

Amy Sinder is administrator at the independent, multispecialty CBC Surgery Center in Crown Point, Ind. The center is Joint Commission accredited.

Rick Sizemore, RN, has been administrator at Spartanburg (S.C.) Surgery Center since 2009. The center is multispecialty and focuses on urology and hand procedure

Christine Slattery is the administrator and CEO of St. Louis Spine & Orthopedic Surgery Center, which is affiliated with Symbion. She has been with the center for more than seven years. The facility offers spine, orthopedic and pain management procedures.

Janet Smith, RN, is the administrator of Lake Ridge (Va.) Ambulatory Surgery Center, a joint venture between Blue Chip Surgical Center Partners and Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center. The surgery center focuses on orthopedics, spine and pain management.  

Steve Smith is the director of Surgery Center of Wisconsin Rapids (Wis.). He was previously circulating nurse when the center opened in 2006 and became the administrative director a year later. ASD Management manages the center, which added ophthalmology in 2011.

Natalie Soule, RN, MBA,CNOR, CASC, is administrator at Premier Orthopedic Surgery Center in Nashville, Tenn., and serves on the board of directors for the Tennessee ASC Association. The ASC includes orthopedics and sports medicine.

James M. Sprouse is the administrator of Pain Management and Ambulatory Surgery Centers of Paducah, Ky., and Marion, Ill. The surgery centers are accredited by AAAHC.  

Allison Stock, RN, JD, CASC, is the executive director of Great Lakes Surgical Center in Southfield, Mich. Ms. Stock has led the surgery center for in this position for three years. She has also served as director of nursing at the center. She earned her law degree from Thomas M. Cooley Law School in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Barb Struthers, MBA, MSN, RN, CPAN, CAPA, is the administrator of Rush Surgicenter in Chicago. She has past experience in the ASC industry as the clinical director of Northwest Michigan Surgery Center in Traverse City. Ms. Struthers has served as the president and treasurer of the Michigan Association of Perianesthesia Nurses.

Tammy Surface is the administrator of New River Valley Surgery Center in Christiansburg, Va. The surgery center is a joint venture between ASD Management, physician owners, physician groups and Carilion New River Valley Medical Center.

Lori Tamburo, CASC, is the administrator of Sheridan (Wyo.) Surgical Center, a physician-owned center in a rural area. Ms. Tamburo joined the center in 2011 as the assistant administrator and business office manager. In 2014, she became administrator. She continues to fill the role of business office manager. She is currently pursuing her MHA at Colorado State University.

Jill Thrasher, CASC, is administrator at Precision Surgery Center of Dallas, a position she has held since March 2008. The center is affiliated with Ambulatory Surgical Centers of America, which Ms. Thrasher credits as helping drive success. She is focused on benchmarking and facility improvement efforts.

Bradley A. Tieszen, MPA, serves as chief administrative officer of USC Ambulatory Surgical Center in Sioux Falls, S.D. He has been with the organization for more than three years and in that time has led the center through a successful AAAHC accreditation survey. The surgery center performs more than 3,000 cases on an annual basis. Mr. Tieszen is actively involved in the continued excellence of surgical operations, including representing the surgery center in an ongoing regional benchmarking study in the Midwest. Previously, Mr. Tieszen served as director of clinic operations of Sanford Health Surgical Associates, where he directly reported to the COO.

Donna Tweed is administrator at The Endoscopy Center of Bucks County in Newton, Pa. The center is a joint venture between several physicians and Physicians Endoscopy.

Cynthia S. Vincent, RN, BSN, has been executive director of the Rex Surgery Center of Cary (N.C.) since 2010. She has 28 years of experience in the healthcare industry and in healthcare leadership in both hospital and ASC settings.

Charles Wallace, MBA, is the administrator of the Surgical Center of Connecticut in Bridgeport. Mr. Wallace has been with the center since it first opened its doors in 2013. The center is affiliated with Merritt Healthcare. Mr. Wallace completed his MBA at the University of New Haven in West Haven, Conn.

Daniel Weber joined Plaza ASC in January of 2014 as the administrator, overseeing the final construction phase, staffing, equipment acquisition, and accreditation process. "Plaza Ambulatory Surgery Center is such a unique opportunity. Having Regent Surgical Health as a management partner, Providence Health Systems as a hospital partner and a diverse physician partnership has been an incredible experience," says Mr. Weber. "My goal is to bring the partnerships vision of the ASC to life. We want to deliver the highest level of care possible in the most comfortable way we can."

Andrew Weiss, CASC, has served as the administrator of the Endo Center at Voorhees (N.J.) for more than 12 years. He is also a board member on the Board of Ambulatory Surgery Center Certification and a board member of ASCAPAC.

Scott Williams, CASC, has been administrator at Carnegie Hill Endoscopy in New York since 2011, prior to the center's 2012 opening. The center is a joint venture between Physicians Endoscopy and Mount Sinai/Beth Israel Medical Center in New York.

John Wipfler, JD, MBA, is CEO of OA Centers for Orthopedics in Portland, Maine, which includes an ambulatory surgery center. He has held the position since 2006 and previously served as CEO of Eyecare Medical Group in Portland. His additional experience includes time as executive director and general counsel of the Maine Health Care Finance Commission.

Cindy Young, RN, BSN, CASC, is the administrative director of Farmington (Mo.) Surgery Center. She has been with the center for 16 years. Ms. Young is also an Ambulatory Surgery Center Association board member.

Becky Ziegler-Otis, CASC, is administrator at Ambulatory Surgical Center of Stevens Point (Wis.), a position she has held since 2008. She reduced accounts receivable days at the center from 100 to around 40 days and helped implement online registration, which reduced staff labor costs.
