The company’s former West Division COO Mark Garvin was named COO of USPI and the former East Division COO Andy Johnston was named chief development officer.
Both Mr. Garvin and Mr. Johnston jointed USPI in 2001 and have held several leadership positions over the years. Mr. Garvin was senior vice president of operations before becoming a divisional COO, and Mr. Johnston has experience as vice president of development as well as senior vice president of operations.
In their new roles, Mr. Garvin will oversee USPI’s surgical operations portfolio across all markets and Mr. Johnston will lead the acquisition and development strategies as well as collaborations with the company’s health system and physician partners.
USPI, in combination with Tenet, has a network of more than 400 facilities in the U.S., including ASCs, imaging centers and surgical hospitals. The combined company’s partnerships include more than 50 health systems and 9,000 physicians.
These promotions come days after USPI named Brett Brodnax, former president and chief development officer, as CEO. Mr. Brodnax succeeded Bill Wilcox, who will continue to serve as chairman of USPI and vice chairman of Tenet Healthcare.
