Misinformation on social media tops the list of challenges physicians face in modern medical practice, according to a recent survey from The Doctor’s Group. 

The survey, conducted between December 2024 and January 2025, included responses from 368 physicians across 47 states.

Here’s how physicians answered the question: What are the most challenging aspects of practicing medicine?

  • Misinformation on social media: 64%
  • High cost of medical care: 62%
  • High cost of drugs: 55%
  • Lack of patient trust in physicians and system: 52%
  • Political climate: 42%
  • Threat of malpractice case: 38%
  • Searching of symptoms/ online consumer medical groups: 31%
  • Cybersecurity threats: 17%
  • Increased use of AI and other technologies: 10%
