Southern Eye Center surgery center physicians perform Gift of Sight surgeries — 3 insights

Physicians at Hattiesburg, Miss.-based Southern Eye Center performed several charity cataract procedures at its clinic in Hattiesburg as well as its surgery center in Laurel, Miss, local news affiliate WDAM reports.

What you should know:

1. Surgeons performed five surgeries on patients who were in dire need but couldn't afford the surgeries.

2. Southern Eye Center Founder Lynn McMahan, MD, created the center's Gift of Sight program.

3. The Gift of Sight program is in its 25th year.
