For more than 30 years, U.S. News & World Report has ranked the top hospitals in America for different specialties by state and nationwide. 

 Family medicine, the most in-demand physician specialty, has one of the lowest average annual salaries, according to AMN Healthcare's "2023 Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentives" report released July 24. 

Here are five factors making ASC leaders nervous about the future:

Travis Messina has been named CEO and appointed to the board of Franklin, Tenn.-based Regent Surgical Health, effective Aug. 14.

ASC administrators see exciting times ahead for their centers and the industry as a whole, despite reimbursement challenges and continued staffing issues.

Nurse practitioner is the fastest-growing occupation in the country, according to projections from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. 

Tenet Healthcare has selected its CEO Saum Sutaria, MD, to be chair of the company's board of directors, effective immediately.
