Ohio eye practice implants trifocal lens — 5 thoughts

Harold Ballitch, MD, is part of a small cohort of ophthalmologists who are using the PanOptix Trifocal Intraocular Lens, the Richland Source reports.

What you should know:

1. Dr. Ballitch practices out of Ontario, Ohio-based Advanced Eye Care Center.

2. Ophthalmologists use the trifocal lens after cataract surgery. The lens improves vision at all levels and can potentially eliminate the need for glasses.

3. The lens is an improvement on past lenses that only improved vision at specific distances.

4. The 76-year-old patient said she felt "wonderful" after the procedure and was ready to return to work shortly after her procedure.

5. Dr. Ballitch and the patient could soon appear in a promotional film for the lens.
