Here are five survey findings:
1. Twenty percent of physicians reported feeling engaged.
2. Slightly more male physicians (22 percent) reported being engaged than their female physician counterparts (16 percent).
3. The report found primary care specialties were less engaged than both procedural and medical specialists.
4. Thirty-two percent of physicians in physician-owned practices or independent medical groups reported being engaged, while only 18 percent of hospital- or health system-employed physicians reported being engaged.
5. Based on these findings, report authors advise organizations to:
● Implement strong physician leadership;
● Create an environment of trust between physicians and non-physician leaders;
● Develop an environment in which physicians can center their attention on what they do best.
