Question: What issues are you spending most of your time on today?
Alex Bateman: For UMP, I am expanding the leadership team to service the large group integrations that are in the works. For Resurgens Orthopaedics, I am balancing ancillary expansion to meet community demands amid staffing shortages.
Q: What are your top challenges and how will they change over the next 12 months?
AB: At UMP, the biggest and most exciting challenge is executing a robust pipeline to grow and add value to the company. At Resurgens, the challenge is recruiting top-level staff in a competitive market. I expect both challenges to remain over the next 12 months.
Q: How are you thinking about investments and growth in the next two years?
AB: For UPM, we are forming partnerships and raising capital, hiring talent and developing technology to support growth, and developing market-specific VBC programs for the groups that join us. For Resurgens Orthopaedics, we are expanding by building new clinics, recruiting new physicians and [advanced practice providers], and expanding our ASC capabilities.
Q: What are you most excited about right now?
AB: At UMP, I am excited about the opportunities ahead of us as we build and grow the premier independent physician-created orthopedic enterprise. At Resurgens, I am excited about how supportive and enthusiastic the physicians are about executing our plan to grow in and beyond Georgia.
