Here are five things to know.
1. Dr. Chari succeeds 40-year industry veteran Peter Marmerstein, who is retiring. Mr. Marmerstein became West Florida division president in 2012.
2. Dr. Chari currently oversees HCA’s clinical excellence program and physician leadership academy as senior vice president of clinical excellence.
3. In his 10 years with HCA, Dr. Chari has served as CMO at Centennial Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., TriStar division CMO, and vice president of clinical excellence.
4. Dr. Chari was previously a professor of surgery and chief of the liver surgery and transplantation division at Nashville-based Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
5. The HCA West Florida network comprises 14 surgery centers, 16 hospitals and 21 graduate medical education programs.
