Carl King takes the helm of NueHealth Holdings: 6 things to know

Former Aetna Senior Vice President Carl King will lead NueHealth Holdings' five platform companies as its new CEO.

Here are six things to know.

1. Mr. King previously served as a NueHealth Holdings advisory board member. He was also a consultant and investor in multiple privately held healthcare companies.

2. Mr. King spent 18 years with Aetna before joining NueHealth. He served as Aetna's head of national networks, regional president, president of national accounts and senior vice president throughout his tenure with the company.

3. In his senior vice president role, Mr. King led the team responsible for integrating Humana's provider networks with Aetna and implemented an aggressive cost-savings strategy.

4. Mr. King serves on the advisory boards for HSBlox and TrueCare24.

5. He is a current board director for IKS Healthcare and the Metrocrest Healthcare Authority, and past director of the American Association of PPOs, the Georgia Association of Health Plans, the Illinois HMO Association and the Illinois HMO Guarantee Association.

6. After graduating from Georgia State University in Atlanta, Mr. King earned a master's degree in health administration from Durham, N.C.-based Duke University.
