James Paine Jr., MD, founded the three businesses. His spouse, Dawn, helped expand the practice throughout the state. Currently, the business employs 50-plus people across the three locations. Under her leadership, Ms. Paine said work-life balance is important as the company “very much supports family and supports life.”
In addition to her VP role, she is the administrator of Beckley Surgery Center. Ms. Paine said this is her favorite role as it coincides with where she wants to continue growing. Ms. Paine has Certified Administrator Surgery Center distinction, which helps her ensure the ASC complies will any federal regulations.
Ms. Paine said due to the competitive healthcare field, the practice may consider a partnership with a hospital or educational facilities. The collaborations may help the facilities continue to expand in the West Virginia market.
