1. Dr. Parks received the recognition for his research work on socioeconomic and racial disparities in arthritis care and total joint replacement surgery access. He’s published several articles on racial differences in joint replacement outcomes.
2. AAOS established its Diversity Award to recognize AAOS members who are commitmented to making orthopedics more representative of patient populations.
3. Dr. Parks received the recognition at AAOS 2019, March 13-15 in Las Vegas.
4. On the honor, he said, “I am honored to be recognized by the AAOS. In order to provide care for an ever-increasing diverse population, we must understand their needs. The diversity of our faces helps with this understanding and ultimately our ability to provide excellent care for the patients we serve.”
