AAAHC names CSA Surgical Center as finalist for quality award — 4 insights

The Accreditation Association for Ambulatory Health Care named Columbia, Mo.-based CSA Surgical Center a finalist for the 2018-19 Bernard A. Kershner Innovations in Quality Improvement Award, the Missourian reports.

What you should know:

1. The award recognizes centers attempting to improve healthcare quality.

2. CSA Surgical Center was recognized for its postoperative pain research. The surgery center is researching the impact of using pain medication before a surgery to treat postoperative pain.

3. CSA found nonnarcotic pain medication prescribed preoperatively reduced pain-related postsurgical stays by 19 percent.

4. AAAHC also recognized Knoxville (Tenn.) Ophthalmology ASC and Laser Spine Surgery Center of Tampa (Fla.).
