The Orthopaedic Institute switches up executive team with 5 appointments — 6 insights

Following a growth equity partnership with Varsity Healthcare Partners, Gainesville, Fla.-based The Orthopaedic Institute added five members to its executive team.

Here are six insights.

1. The Orthopaedic Institute made the following appointments: Richard Gilbert, MD, as CEO; Alan Campbell as CFO; William Hubbard as COO; Michael Anderson as vice president of corporate development; and Andrew Rocca, MD, as chief medical officer.

2. Dr. Gilbert most recently served as medical group president for telehealth provider MDLIVE. He previously served as CMO of Mednax and CEO of Charlotte, N.C.-based Southeast Anesthesiology Consultants, Charlotte-based Southeast Pain Care and Quantum.

3. Before joining The Orthopaedic Institute, Mr. Campbell was Tampa, Fla.-based Laser Spine Institute's CFO. His prior roles include executive vice president, finance, legal and chief compliance officer for Physicians Choice Laboratory Services, and CEO for United Sleep Medicine and The Neurological Institute in Charlotte.

4. Mr. Hubbard was most recently vice president of operations for Charlotte-based Carolinas Healthcare System, which has more than 900 care locations, nearly 60,000 employees and $9 billion in annual net revenue. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1990 to 1994.

5. Mr. Anderson led private equity fund Bregal Partners' healthcare services efforts as a director. He had similar responsibilities as a Lee Equity Partners principal.

6. Dr. Rocca's new position expands his previous clinical and managerial duties for The Orthopaedic Institute.
