TeamHealth names new executive vice president, COO: 5 key notes

TeamHealth appointed Mike Wiechart to serve as executive vice president and COO after he joins the company on May 1.

Here are five things to know:

1. Mr. Wiechart will succeed Oliver Rogers, the current executive vice president and COO, after he retires. During his career, Mr. Rogers led the company through growth and client retention with an eye for operational efficiency and promoting innovation.

2. Mr. Wiechart has 30 years of experience in healthcare management and most recently founded and served as managing director of Sunergeo Health Partners. He also spent time as president and CEO of Capella Healthcare.

3. In addition to Mr. Wiechart's experience in operations and finance, he has knowledge and leadership skills that will prove beneficial when working with clinicians.

4. Mr. Wiechart earned his MBA from the University of Tennessee and is a doctoral candidate in health services administration at the University of Alabama—Birmingham School of Health Professions.

5. TeamHealth offers outsourced services in emergency medicine, hospital medicine, critical care, anesthesiology, orthopedic hospitalist, acute care surgery, obstetrics and gynecology hospitalist, ambulatory care, post-acute care and medical call center solutions to 3,300 facilities across the country.
