Surgery Partners director vacating seat — 3 key notes

Brentwood, Tenn.-based Surgery Partners nominated former Southwind Health Partners CEO John Deane to fill a soon-to-be vacant seat on its board of directors.

Three key notes:

1. Adam T. Feinstein's term as director will expire May 29 at Surgery Partners' annual stockholders meeting, and he requested not to be nominated for reelection "because of other obligations and commitments," the company said in a proxy statement.

2. If elected, Mr. Deane would begin a three-year term as director immediately following the annual meeting.

3. Mr. Deane was the founder and CEO of Nashville, Tenn.-based Southwind Health Partners, a medical group management services organization, before it was acquired by The Advisory Board. He then served as The Advisory Board's chairman.

"Our board believes that Mr. Deane is qualified to serve as a director based on, among other things, his more than 30 years' experience as both an executive and consultant in the healthcare industry," Surgery Partners' proxy statement said.
