New York City-based Ophthalmic Consultants of Long Island partnered with Healthix, the largest public health exchange in the U.S.

What you should know:

1. OCLI will contribute clinical data to the exchange.

2. Spectrum Vision Partners CEO Tom Burke said OCLI's physicians recognized the value behind the HIE and realized the multiple benefits sharing information would produce. Spectrum Vision Partners, which serves ASCs and ophthalmology practices, represented OCLI’s interests in the partnership.

3. Mr. Burke said, "The ophthalmologists at OCLI are on the cutting edge of information technology. They understand the necessity of reducing gaps in care by sharing information across the continuum."

4. OCLI is the first large ophthalmology group to participate in the exchange, said Healthix President and CEO Tom Check.
