New York City-based NYU Langone named Ira Jacobson, MD, its director of hepatology.
Here's what you should know:
1. Dr. Jacobson joined the health system to serve in the position. In the position, he'll maintain regular practice hours, while overseeing the entire hepatology department.
2. A noted researcher, he played a key role in developing an antiviral therapy for viral hepatitis. He also has been involved with several noted studies, including Advance, Quest-1, Positron and Polaris-2 among others.
3. Dr. Jacobson most recently served at New York City-Mount Sinai Beth Israel as its Department of Medicine chairperson.
