Operating room plans for Charleston-based Medical University of South Carolina's forthcoming ASC won two awards at the Healthcare Design Expo + Conference, Nov. 11 to Nov. 14 in Orlando, Fla., Clemson World reports.
Here's what you should know:
1. Spartanburg (S.C.) Regional Health and Clemson (S.C.) University designed an OR that was safer and more ergonomic. MUSC will be using their design for the ORs in its ASC.
2. The plans won a conceptual design award and were a gold-level recipient for using an evidence-based design process.
3. The OR design aims to improve staff safety by limiting trip hazards, reduce surface contamination material, support communication by redefining sightlines and be adaptable.
