Laura Dyrda -

ASCA Foundation partnered with U.S.-based nonprofit One World Surgery to provide scholarships for nurses, surgical techs and scrub techs to participate in One World Surgery's medical mission in Honduras.

"The ASCA Foundation is delighted to assist One World Surgery in its mission to use ambulatory surgery to improve the lives of those in desperate need of healthcare in Honduras," said ASCA CEO Bill Prentice. "Our support, derived from the revenue we earn from our affinity partners, can remove a financial burden for eligible ASCA members allowing them to use their clinical skills to participate in a life-changing weeklong medical brigade."

Here are four things to know.

1. One World Surgery provides weeklong medical missions at Holy Family Surgery Center in Honduras. The mission trip includes clinical and nonclinical participants.

2. The scholarship covers program fees associated with the medical mission as well as roundtrip coach airfare, food, lodging and ground transportation as well as emergency medical and evacuation insurance.

3. One World Surgery's Holy Family Surgery Center is located on a 2,000-acre ranch of a children's home.

4. Eligible individuals for the scholarship are ASCA members one year of paid experience and currently licensed or certified to work in their field.
