A 2017 Medscape survey of 1,153 physicians across more than 25 specialties found the largest percentage of self-employed and employed physicians meet with their clinical staff on a daily or weekly basis.
Here are eight pieces of advice from the physician respondents.
1. Empower staff to solve problems and make decisions.
2. Treat staff with respect.
3. Do not micromanage staff.
4. Lead by example and maintain a positive attitude.
5. Pay staff well, provide good benefits and incentives, and have staff parties.
6. Be patient, courteous and caring.
7. Praise staff often.
8. Take care of problems while they are still minor.
