8 things to know about NueHealth Holdings' new executive chairman John Palumbo

NueHealth Holdings selected seasoned healthcare leader John Palumbo as executive chairman.

Here are eight things to know.

1. John Palumbo will serve as board chairman for NueHealth Holdings' five platform companies: NueHealth Performance, ValueHealth, HealthcareRe, Benefit Management and Muve Health.

2. Mr. Palumbo will provide executive oversight, strategic development and value creation for the NueHealth Holdings portfolio companies.

3. He is a senior adviser to Nueterra Capital, senior fellow at the Philadelphia-based Jefferson University School of Population and a senior adviser of Bryant Park Capital.

4. Mr. Palumbo most recently served as CEO of HealthRight, a digital consumer health services company he founded.

5. Since entering the healthcare technology field in 1986 as a founding member of Healthworks Alliance, Mr. Palumbo has gained expertise in company transformation, strategic management, mergers and acquisitions and financial strategy through numerous leadership roles.

6. In his six years as AmerisourceBergen Corp. senior vice president, Mr. Palumbo grew his business unit's revenue from $19 billion to $39 billion and increased its market share from 29 percent to 42 percent through a value-based transformation initiative.

7. In 1999, Mr. Palumbo was tapped as board vice chairman of I-trax, a provider of population health and productivity solutions. He became president in 2002 and guided the company to generate more than $130 million in revenue before a sale to Walgreen's TakeCare Health division in 2008.

8. After serving as executive vice president and chief operating officer of AllScripts, Mr. Palumbo was recruited to join Siemens Medical Solutions as the company's National Health Services division leader.
