The Barbara Northeimer Fish Memorial Cancer Fund bestowed a $175,000 gift to Morgantown, W.Va.-based WVU Cancer Institute to support colorectal cancer screenings.
Here's what you should know:
1. The fund was established in remembrance of Barbara Fish by her husband Bob Fish. Ms. Fish passed away from metastatic colorectal cancer. Mr. Fish established the fund in her honor to support diagnostic screening.
2. The institute will use the gift to screen uninsured individuals between 50 years and 75 years who are eligible based on income guidelines and requirements.
3. Patients with a positive test result will also have their diagnostic colonoscopy covered.
4. The program will launch in the fall of 2018.
