The Fresh Prince of Polyps — Will Smith undergoes colonoscopy, has precancerous polyp removed

Movie star Will Smith had a precancerous polyp removed by general surgeon Ala Stanford, MD.

Mr. Smith agreed to vlog his colonoscopy journey, with Dr. Stanford featured prominently throughout. Dr. Stanford said if Mr. Smith didn't undergo a colonoscopy, the polyp could've become cancerous. She recommended Mr. Smith undergo another colonoscopy in the next two to three years.

Dr. Stanford is an adult and pediatric general surgeon at Jefferson Health's Abington (Pa.) Hospital. She earned her medical degree from State College, Pa.-based Pennsylvania State University, completed residencies at SUNY Downstate Medical Center in New York Cityand at UPMC in Pittsburgh. She completed a pair of pediatric surgery fellowships at Children's Hospital of Pittsburgh and at Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center.
