The 50 best gastroenterology hospitals in 2026: US News

Rochester, Minn.-based Mayo Clinic has been ranked as the top hospital in the U.S. for gastroenterology and GI surgery by U.S. News & World Report.

The rankings for the best hospitals for 2026-27, published Aug. 4, evaluated hospitals on measures including risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and patient experience. This year’s methodology placed greater weight on risk-adjusted patient outcome measures in determining results. Read more on how the publication created the rankings here.

U.S. News & World Report evaluated 960 gastroenterology hospitals that provide care for stomach, esophageal, digestive, pancreatic, liver, colon, bowel and rectal procedures as well as conditions such as inflammatory bowel disease, cirrhosis and hepatitis.
