The Texas Medical Association named gastroenterologist Carlos Cardenas, MD, president-elect, according to a D Healthcare Daily report.

1. Dr. Cardenas is the interim CEO of Doctors Hospital at Renaissance in Edinburg, Texas.

2. He also provides care at Renaissance Gastroenterology in Edinburg and Weslaco, Texas.

3. He was one of the original physician founders of Day Surgery at Renaissance, which grew from an outpatient facility into Doctors Hospital at Renaissance, a 530-bed general acute-care hospital.
