Gastroenterology Consultants of South Texas provided notice of a cybersecurity incident and data breach, according to a July 29 report from The HIPAA Journal.
An unauthorized third party gained access to the practice’s network in late May 2025.
Exposed patient information may have included names, addresses, dates of birth, medical records and health insurance information.
The Texas Attorney General was informed that the personally identifiable information and protected health information of 41,521 Texas residents was exposed in the breach, the report said.
