Small colon polyps can be removed during a standard colonoscopy, but invasive surgery has been required to adequately close the wound after large polyps are resected.
Operating in Spain, gastroenterologists from Mercy Hospital in Baltimore used a colonoscope and the OverStitch system to deploy two continuous sutures to close a three-by-six centimeter transmural defect.
