In a multicenter, prospective and randomized study, nurses with two or more years of experience significantly increased polyp and adenoma detection rates compared with using just one colonoscopist.
In addition, an experienced endoscopy nurse working with a GI fellow who had performed less than 500 colonoscopies had a significantly higher polyp detection rate than the fellow working alone.
