Stamford Hospital acquires Fuse endoscopy system

Stamford (Conn.) Hospital has become the first provider in its area to acquire the Fuse Endoscope System from EndoChoice, according to a Norwalkplus report.

The Fuse system has a 330-degree field of view, compared to the 170-degree field of view offered by traditional colonoscopes.

Stamford Hospital is participating in the "80 percent by 2018" initiative launched by the National Colorectal Cancer Roundtable. The initiative aims to boost the percentage of adults 50 years or older who have received CRC screening to 80 percent by 2018.

General surgeon Charles Littlejohn, MD, is the director of the hospital's GI Center of Excellence, according to the report.
