Sealantis acquired for $25 million: 5 things to know

Advanced Medical Solutions Group acquired surgical sealant company Sealantis.

Five things to know:

1. Sealantis is an Israeli-based medical device company that develops an alginate-based tissue adhesive technology platform.

2. Sealantis’ flagship surgical sealant product Seal-G is open surgery device already designed to reinforce the staple or suture line to minimize anastomotic leaks after gastrointestinal surgery..

3. AMS is acquiring Sealantis for an initial consideration of $25 million in cash, which is to be funded from existing cash resources.

4. Additionally, AMS will pay royalties on future sales of Sealantis’ existing products in development until the end of 2027.

5. AMS plans to accelerate the commercialization of Seal-G by running clinical trials for anastomotic leak prevention as well as obtaining approval for new indications. It expects to make a total investment of approximately $10.4 million in research and development, regulatory and clinical costs over the next three years.
