Run for Your Buns 5K organizers receive award from American College of Gastroenterology: 3 thoughts

Stephen Amann, MD, nurse navigator Cindy McDaniel and Digestive Health Specialists clinical research coordinator Marsha Williams were recently awarded a SCOPY from the American College of Gastroenterology for their work on the Blue Tie Affair and the Run for your Buns 5K, the Daily Journal reports

Here’s what you should know.

 

1. The Mississippi-based physician and healthcare professionals were recognized in the “best event support and community engagement category.” The two events benefitted a colorectal cancer and patient assistant program. They raised nearly $8,000.

 

2. The 5K doubled its participation in its second running.

 

3. Dr. Amann created the Blue Tie Affair as a way to complement the race and appeal to a broader audience.

 

The affair featured a band, a silent auction and a speaker and was held at Elvis Presley’s Birthplace.
