Newport News, Va.-based Riverside Health and Charlottesville, Va.-based UVA Health are expanding their partnership to include liver transplant services, according to a July 29 news release.

The collaboration builds on a 2023 effort to improve transplant access through UVA’s outreach clinic in Newport News. Patients in Hampton Roads and Eastern Virginia will now receive local pre- and post-transplant liver care, while surgeries and advanced follow-up will take place at UVA Health’s transplant center in Charlottesville.

Most liver care will continue at Williamsburg, Va.-based Riverside Gastroenterology Specialists, with UVA transplant navigators supporting patients throughout the process. The health systems also plan to expand clinical trials and medical education programs at Riverside locations.
