Physicians across many specialties are facing reimbursement pressure. Will this pressure cause gastroenterologists to consider a change in their patient mix? Here are eight statistics on whether or not gastroenterologists will continue to take on Medicare and Medicaid patients, according to the Medscape Gastroenterologist Compensation Report 2014.

•    Employed gastroenterologists: 32 percent

•    Self-employed gastroenterologists: 60 percent
•    Employed gastroenterologists: 63 percent

•    Self-employed gastroenterologists: 1 percent
•    Employed gastroenterologists: 1 percent

Stop taking new

•    Self-employed gastroenterologists: 10 percent
•    Employed gastroenterologists: 4 percent
